1927 Keystone, No.48 Packard U.S. Army Truck in Original Box

Remarkable 85 year old pressed steel "U.S. Army Truck" by Keystone complete with its original box plus inserts. Shipped to F.A.O. Schwarz in New York City, "Dec 15, 1928". 

Body, cab, trailer and bed painted khaki green throughout with original khaki brown canvas cover marked "U.S. Army". Only thing replaced are the 4 leather tie-downs (the originals had rotted). 

Features classic Packard radiator with cap, front hood, extended headlamps with original glass lenses, single bench seat, and metal steering wheel (which turns front wheels). Service bed is stationary with 4 metal bows or ribs to overlay the canvas cover and drop down tail gate. Wheels are khaki green steel discs with black rubber tires. Also has its original braided cotton pull cord with unusual double knot in the center. 

Decals include red and gold Keystone Packard radiator, U.S. Army front hood divider, yellow Keystone floorboard decal, and U.S. Army on both sides of the service body. 

Massive original box with printed text and no illustrations. Two panels include the catalog number, truck name, and Keystone trademark. The third panel was stencil addressed to F.A.O. Schwarz. Same panel includes its original shipping label dated December 15, 1928 (faint,but still readable). Value was indicated as $6.00. Fourth box panel is blank. Endflaps printed with catalog number and truck name. Also includes both original end inserts. Open end is missing 1½ flaps. Opposite end flaps are still factory sealed.
